Get ready for a road trip to explore beautiful Charlotte County!
Pack up your cardboard suitcase—equipped with a road trip map, 10 postcards reproduced from real vintage ones in our collection, and descriptions of the ten historic locations—and explore our area’s past and present.
Suitcase kits are available from the Charlotte County Archives and the St. Andrews Welcome Centre, free (with donation encouraged). Many have also already been distributed to local schools, ready to hit the road!
The ten postcards include depictions of the Charlotte County Courthouse and Jail in St. Andrews; Ministers Island; the St. Croix Cotton Mill in Milltown; the McAdam Train Station; the Ganong Chocolate Factory in St. Stephen; the St. George Gorge and Salmon Fish Ladder; the Roosevelt Cottage on Campobello Island; the Swallowtail Lighthouse on Grand Manan Island; the Old Sow Whirlpool near Deer Island; and the Maguire Covered Bridge in Elmsville.
We encourage you to send these postcards to friends and family along the way, as folks have done for 120+ years. You can even send one to us!
Have fun!
